As suggested by Louna from Bursts of Autumn, here are the things I love about autumn. All photography is mine except the photos that are by Pixabay on Pexels.com while my dad took the photos of my mum and I at St James’s Park.
Fallen leaves in various shades of yellow, orange, red and brown. I also like the crunchy sounds the leaves make when I walk on them.
Hot food and drinks. From bangers and mash and peppermint tea to roast dinners and hot chocolate, these hot meals and beverages give me instant warmth and comfort.
Wearing warm clothing. A great way to keep warm if I don’t want to turn the heating on.
Using a hot water bottle at night. Much safer than using an electric blanket because I worry about the fire safety risks that fire blankets can pose.
Watching fireworks from the window. I prefer to do this than face the crowds at an organised fireworks display.
Cosy days and nights in front of the TV, a DVD or YouTube, especially if it is one of my favourite autumnal films or TV shows that I will discuss in another post or an autumn-themed YouTube video.
Feeding squirrels in parks when I get the chance. In November 2013, my parents and I went to St James’s Park to feed the squirrels and it was superb fun!
Seeing fallen acorns and conkers. Just as satisfying as fallen leaves.
Swapping my spring/summer wardrobe for my autumn/winter wardrobe. A fantastic way to re-organise for the colder months.
Planning Christmas gift ideas. Some might say the autumn is a bit too early to think of Christmas gift ideas, but I have been using this time to plan these ideas since I worked as an Avon representative (I was a rep from 2011 until 2016). Because 2020 is an unpredictable year for Christmas, I prefer to plan my gift ideas now so I can determine if I can give them to their recipients in person or get them delivered in the post.
